I'm Reba Herder, founder and director of Everylight and Conversation Strategies, a certified Enneagram instructor, credentialed teacher, ordained minister, and mother of two adult daughters.
I’ve been leading conversations since I was a teenager on the youth cabinet at church. I earned a degree in Religion, a California teaching credential, Training in Ministry Certificate from the Church of the Brethren and the Enneagram instructor’s certificate from Don Riso and Russ Hudson. I’ve taught in a variety of public and private school settings in the US and Ethiopia for almost two decades. I’m an experienced conversation facilitator, trainer, and coach who’s helped thousands respond to stressful circumstances calmly and confidently.
I started Everylight in 2002 to have a safe space to be creative about helping each other thrive. It’s become an interfaith ministry on a mission to create a world of encouragement, one conversation at a time. To complete that mission, we need education for healthy conversations. So I synthesized my eclectic background into The Nine Arts of Healthy Conversation™ to help people develop the tools, skills, and resources we need to cure conversation catastrophes.
I’m working for a day when the powerful and the powerless can talk to each other, learn from each other, and work side by side.
I’m working for a day when the powerful and the powerless can each find: the courage to be vulnerable, the wisdom to see their own strength, and the compassion to see that we are one--for even a superstar is awkward when they try something new; and even a fragile baby can command attention.
I’m working for the day when the powerful and the powerless can help each other thrive: when we can each discover what makes us special, share it with the world and encourage others to do the same.
I’m working for a day when conversations are made sacred, with authenticity and respect; and we create safe spaces for boldness, weakness, and eccentricities.
